Getting started
Workspaces and first setup
Create or join an organization and finish the setup checklist.
A workspace is your organization in Mentor. Members, locations, content, and branding all live inside it. Work never crosses workspaces — assignments, credentials, and branding are always scoped to one organization.
Create an organization
Open onboarding (you are sent there automatically if you have no workspace) or Settings → Create another organization. The page is titled Get your team ready.
- Pick an industry focus. The options are Tech (security, onboarding, policy), Manufacturing (SOPs, plants, safety proof), Multi-site (stores, regions, standards), and Other (general teams). Choosing Multi-site starts your organization in Structured mode; the others start in Simple mode. You can change mode later.
- Enter your Company name (2–120 characters). A Workspace URL slug is previewed as you type — this becomes your organization's address for catalog links.
- Optionally enter a First location — for example Plant 1, Store 01, or HQ. You can add more locations later in Admin.
- Choose Create workspace.
Creating a workspace makes you the tenant admin and starts a Core plan · 30-day trial with learning, documents, forms, and proof enabled.
If you leave the company name empty you will see Enter a company name.
Joining an existing organization
If a teammate invited you, do not create a new workspace — open app.mentorhq.com and sign in with the invited email address. The workspace appears automatically. See People and invites for how invites work.
Finish setting up
Admins (anyone with settings or people management permissions) see a Finish setting up your org checklist on Home with these items:
- Add a location — opens Admin → Locations
- Invite a teammate — opens Admin → People
- Set branding — opens Admin → Organization → Branding
- Build content in Studio (or Publish content in Studio once drafts exist) — opens Studio
- Assign first work — opens Studio
Completed items stay visible with a check mark and fade out. The checklist is guidance, not a hard gate — the workspace works before every item is done.
